The starter of the three-phase squirrel cage induction motor usually uses a star-delta converter. The stator motor coils are connected in a star configuration when energized, and are switched to the incremental configuration when the motor reaches 3/4 of its full speed after the stator coils are rotated to generate sufficient counter electromagnetic force.
