Typical ERP Business Processes

Enterprise resource planning (ERP) is the integrated management of main business processes, often in real time and mediated by software and technology.

Activity 1

Create sales order: A sales order specifies the details about products and/or services ordered by a specific customer along with the price, quantity and terms and conditions. Businesses use it as a confirmation document that is sent to the customers before delivery of goods or service.

Activity 2

Create delivery note for sales: A delivery note should include the name and contact details of the seller, the name and contact details of the customer, the date of issue, the date of delivery of the goods, a description of the goods contained in the order, and the quantity of each type of goods.

Activity 3

Shipping goods: Ships carry many types of cargo such as oil, scrap metals, white-goods, iron ore, diesel and petrol, food and drink, electrical and electronics equipment, raw materials for manufacturing and commodity bulk cargo such as coffee.Large cuboidal shaped shipping containers aid most goods in travelling safely by sea around the world.

Activity 4

Create sales invoice—Bill to customer: If goods or services were purchased on credit, the invoice usually specifies the terms of the deal and provides information on the available methods of payment. Types of invoices may include a paper receipt, a bill of sale, debit note, sales invoice, or online electronic record.

Activity 5

Create receipt—payment from customer: A receipt is a written acknowledgment that something of value has been transferred from one party to another. In addition to the receipts consumers typically receive from vendors and service providers, receipts are also issued in business-to-business dealings as well as stock market transactions.
