Types of

Discontinuity

Removable Discontinuity

It exists when it can be fixed by redifining the function at the point of discontinuity.

01

Jump Discontinuity

It exists if the Left Hand Limit (LHL) is ≠ to the Right Hand Limit (RHL).

02

Infinite Discontinuity

It exists if the limit at the real number(c) is infinite.

03

Non-Removable

Non-Removable

It exists when the function cannot be redefined.

Here is a diagram about the types of discontinuity, from which there are 3 kinds of discontinuity, including removable, jump, and infinite discontinuity. Continuous functions are of utmost importance in mathematics, functions, and applications. However, not all functions are continuous. If a function is not continuous at a point in its domain, one says that it has a discontinuity there. Learn more details from this diagram, or try to make yours with ease!
