1. Introduction
In architecture and building engineering, a floor plan is a drawing to scale, showing a view from above, of the relationships between rooms, spaces, traffic patterns, and other physical features at one level of a structure. A bathroom floor plan design starts with understanding dimension as it plays a critical part in the floor plan, and before one gets into individual elements like shower fitting or toilet areas, the most important part is finalizing the layout.

2. What is Bathroom Layout
A floor plan is a sketch that depicts the arrangement of a home or property from the top down. Walls, windows, doors, and stairs, as well as fixed installations like bathroom fixtures, kitchen cabinetry, and appliances, are often depicted on floor plans. Floor plans are often scaled drawings that show room kinds, sizes, and wall lengths. They may also incorporate outside areas and display furniture configurations.

3. How to Create a Bathroom Layout
Step 1: Pick a location. Determine the drawing area. If the structure already exists, determine how much of it to sketch (a room, a floor, or the full structure). If the structure does not yet exist, come up with design ideas depending on the size and shape of the site.
Step 2: Measure everything. If the structure already exists, take measurements of the walls, doors, and relevant furnishings to ensure that the floor plan is accurate. If you're designing a layout for a completely new region, make sure the overall area will fit where it'll be erected. It's a good idea to look at buildings in similar places to get a sense of how much this floor plan will cost.
Step 3: Make a wall. Add walls to each of the building's rooms, making sure they're drawn to scale.
Step 4: Include architectural details. Begin by putting in the non-removable components, such as doors and windows, as well as the refrigerator, dishwasher, dryer, and other vital appliances that must be installed in a precise area.
Step 5: Fill in the gaps with furniture. If the floor plan allows it, add furnishings.

4. Tips for Bathroom Layout
One of the characteristics of effective bathroom design, as mentioned on the bathroom layouts page, is that there is adequate room for a person to change clothes and dry oneself. In compact bathroom floor layouts, this is sometimes sacrificed. However, if you're in an en-suite or an apartment where everyone knows each other well enough to flee across the corridor wrapped in a towel, this isn't so much an issue as an opportunity to conserve room!
