A workflow is a sequence of tasks that processes a set of data. As the attached diagram suggests, a business transaction workflow is an event involving an interchange of goods, money, or service between two or more parties. Anytime any transaction is passed between people or systems, a workflow is created. The transaction can be as brief as a cash purchase or as long-lasting as a service contract extending over years. The business transaction workflows are the paths that describe how something goes from being undone to done. As the diagram suggests, there are several types of business transactions, like external business transaction workflow, internal transactions workflow, cash transaction workflow, non-cash transactions workflow, credit transactions workflow, and personal transactions.
