1. Introduction

A bar chart is a chart that presents categorical data with rectangular bars with heights or lengths proportional to the values that they represent. The horizontal bars show comparisons among discrete categories. One axis of the chart shows the specific categories being compared, and the other axis represents a measured value. In a bar chart, one makes bars of equal width but variable length, i.e. the magnitude of a quantity is represented by the height or length of the bars. 

As shown in the example, a bar chart can help create a city’s average temperature across the entire year. As shown in the bar chart, months like August, September, and July recorded the highest temperature, and months like January and December recorded the lowest temperature across the year.
