Crystallization is the process by which solid forms, where the atoms or molecules are highly organized into a structure known as a crystal. Some of the ways by which crystals form are precipitating from a solution, freezing, or more rarely deposition directly from a gas. As the crystallization technical process diagram suggests, there are three methods of crystallization: evaporative crystallization, cooling crystallization from solution or the melt, precipitation. The important application of crystallization is its use to obtain pure salt from seawater. As the technical crystallization diagram suggests, crystallization is known to be more effective than evaporation since it also removes the soluble impurities.
