A data flow model diagram can be created by going through the following steps: select a data flow model template from EdrawMax, name the data flow model diagram, add an external entity that starts the process, add a process to the data flow diagram, add a data store to the diagram, continue to add items to the DFD, and add data flow to the data flow diagram.
