Rizal attended a private school school under Mr. Justiniano Aquino Cruz

Jose Rizal was born as the 7th child of Teodora and Francisco Rizal.

He entered Ateneo Municipal for secondary education.

He studied Bachelor in Arts.

Imprisonment of his mother in Sta. Cruz. He continues his studies under the instruction of Maestro Lucas Padua.

He studied Cosmology, Metaphysics,Theodicy and History of Philosophy. He also finished surveying course in Ateneo.

Rizal took up medicine, enrolling simultaneously in the preparatory medical course and the regular first year

Rizal was freshmen medical student at UST. He got his first taste of Spanish brutality.

The Council of the God's

Rizal got the prize in the Artistic-Literary Lyceum contest. He submitted an allegory in prose intitled El Consejo de los Dioses ( The Council of the God's).


He was also the chief of a secret society of Filipino students, called Companerismo (Comradeship).

Decision to Study Abroad


Rizal finished hid studies 4th year medical course in UST, he decided to complete his studies in Spain. He could no longer endure the rampant bigotry, discrimination, and hostility in the University of Santo Thomas.

His prize winning poem

Rizal, who was then 18 yrs. old submitted his poem entitled A La Juventud Filipina (To the Filipino Youth)

His last year in Ateneo

Rizal was matriculated in the University of Santo Tomas taking Philosophy and letters.
