Antoni Gaudi was a Catalan architect who became part of the Modernista movement, reaching its peak in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Antoni Gaudi's Timeline suggests that he was born on June 25, 1852. Between 1875 and 1878, Gaudí completed his compulsory military service in the infantry regiment in Barcelona as a Military Administrator. In 1876, Gaudí's mother died at the age of 57, as did his 25-year-old brother Francesc, who had just graduated as a physician. In 1883 Gaudí was put in charge of the recently initiated project to build a Barcelona church called Basílica I Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família.
