This is an example of a UML conceptual diagram. A UML diagram is a diagram based on the UML (Unified Modeling Language) that is used to graphically depict a system along with its primary actors, roles, actions, artifacts, or classes in order to better understand, edit, manage, or document system information. The Unified Modeling Language (UML) is a set of diagrams that may be used to depict a software application. The notation was created by Grady Booch, James Rumbaugh, Ivar Jacobson, and the Rational Software Corporation to be used for object-oriented design, but it has since been adapted to serve a larger variety of software engineering tasks. UML is currently recognized as the standard for modeling software development by the Object Management Group (OMG).
