A Hospital Floor Plan aims to zone the plan so that circulation paths do not cross. Each of the three zones in the small hospital layout above is clearly defined. The treatment/exam areas are indoor/outdoor and face south. The fundamentals of organizing small and large equine campuses are the same, but the issues become more complex as the hospital grows. A well-defined circulation pattern is required for a large facility to run smoothly. As shown in Hospital Floor Plan, an internal racetrack pattern that runs between departments or buildings minimizes complex cross-circulation and reduces the overall number of steps required to travel from one location to another.
