This Halloween movie timeline template displays the Halloween films in the order they were released, just like old-school fans did. Though Carpenter only directed the first Halloween, he remained creatively involved until film three, when his attempt to change Halloween into this anthology series with Season of the Witch was met with apathy by fans who wanted to see Michael butchering poor innocents. Michael came back to the series in Halloween 4 under the direction of producer Moustapha Akkad, who continued to produce sequels that fit within the established canon.
