Blood vessels are the channels through which blood is distributed to body tissues. In human anatomy, the blood vessels are the components of the circulatory system that transport blood throughout the human body. The blood vessels diagram shows that these vessels transport blood cells, nutrients, and oxygen to the tissues of the body. As shown in the blood vessels diagram, there are three major types of blood vessels: arteries, veins, and capillaries. Each of these plays a very important role in the circulation process as these vessels take waste and carbon dioxide away from the tissues. In the blood vessels, blood travel from the heart in arteries, which branch into smaller and smaller vessels, eventually becoming arterioles.
