A genogram essentially involves a family tree. In terms of a family emotional relationship genogram, the genogram demonstrates the emotional relationship between different members of the family tree. The strength of the emotional relationship between two members is demonstrated with different types of connectors. For example, a strong relationship may be indicated by a bold line or double line, whereas a weak relationship may be demonstrated by a single line or a thin line. To indicate a broken relationship, the connector may be expressed in the form of a disconnected line or a striated line. Different members of the family tree are placed based on their generation and position in the family. Then, their emotional connection is described in the family emotional relationship genogram.
