Jon's Eco-maps is a visual map of his connections to the internal family members. They provide a useful tool for assessing family, social, and community relationships and highlight the quality of these connections. It should be noted here that an Ecomap can be drawn by a social worker using information gathered in interviews, but sometimes clients can draw their own Ecomaps. Start by drawing the family unit or individual inside a large circle. Next, draw circles that represent people or groups the central unit has a relationship with. In simpler words, Jon Eco-maps are used in individual and family counseling within the social work and nursing profession. A dotted line with arrows in the corner shows the relationship is at risk, and a straight line shows a strong relationship, a dotted line without the arrows shows a conflict between the two members. For instance, Jon has a strong relationship with his grandmother, has a conflict with his older brother, dad, mother, dad's girlfriend, and his relationship with his best friend Eric is at high risk.
