The Lion King is a 1994 American animated musical drama film[3] released by Walt Disney Pictures and produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation. It is the 32nd Disney animated feature film and the fifth animated picture made during the Disney Renaissance period. Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff (in their feature directorial debuts) directed The Lion King, which was produced by Don Hahn and based on a script by Irene Mecchi, Jonathan Roberts, and Linda Woolverton. Composer Elton John and lyricist Tim Rice wrote the original songs, and Hans Zimmer composed the music.
