Responsibilities and Roles A matrix is a responsibility assignment chart that lines out every task, milestone, or key decision involved in finishing a project and assigns which roles are Responsible for each action item, which personnel is Accountable, and who needs to be Consulted or Informed, as appropriate. A responsibility assignment matrix (RAM) in project management, also known as a RACI chart or RACI matrix, identifies all relevant stakeholders and clarifies responsibilities among cross-functional teams and their level of involvement in a project. The acronym RACI refers to the four roles that stakeholders may have in any project. The chart is intended to promote clear communication and smooth workflows among all team members.
