A genogram is an animated family tree. Families are complicated systems that interact with other communities and kin groups that they are a part of, and they cannot be fully understood without understanding the larger environment in which they exist. Genograms offer a plethora of information about the families depicted since they allow you to show not only how individuals of a family tree are related to one other, but also how they are a product of their period, as seen by their actions, friendships, and many other factors. As a genealogist, you may use genograms to portray notable people and events in your family's history. Annotations regarding each member of your family's medical history and important personality features can also be included in genograms.
