The Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the sports global governing body, organizes the FIFA Club World Cup, an international mens association football competition. The FIFA Club World Championship was held for the first time in 2000. It was not held from 2001 to 2004 due to a combination of factors in the cancelled 2001 tournament, most notably the failure of FIFAs marketing partner International Sport and Leisure (ISL), but it has been held every year since 2005, with Brazil, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, and Qatar hosting. The cups prestige is disputed it fails to pique the interest of most of Europe and is the subject of heated debate in South America.
